Experimental designs follow the scientific method and are set up to allow the
greatest amount of control possible so that causality may be examined. They are
often used to examine drug trials. Experimental designs require conducting
pilot (pre-test) and post-test examination of variables. This way, variables
can be examined over time to establish causality.
Ethical considerations play a major role in determining whether experimental
studies can be performed. For example, Milgram’s (1963) experiments

raised
important questions whether subjects should have been better informed of their
role in the experiment. Without proper professional advice, experimental design
studies can open a Pandora’s Box of ethical nightmares. Fortunately,
StatsBusters employs only PhDs to review experimental designs and ensure high
ethical standards are met.
